About Me |
I have provided consultation to more than 100 clients during the past 15+ years. In each engagement, I have provided my clients with needed expertise, skills and methodologies to pragmatically accomplish the objectives of their information technology project.
My background in information technology and my professional experience span thirty years and many vertical industries. Prior to formally starting my consulting practice in 1990, I worked at two large, prestigious Chicago-based companies for 15 years. At Continental Illinois National Bank, I was a programmer/analyst, a database systems analyst and a network analyst. At Amoco Corporation, I was a network systems architect and an internal consultant. While at Amoco, I spent a year working closely with IBM's highly regarded Federal System Division to develop a proprietary networking system for use by Amoco's refining subsidiary. I am an adjunct professor at Wilbur Wright College (Chicago, Illinois) in their department of Computer Security and Forensic Investigation where I am presently teaching an introductory course on cybercrime. I have also served as an adjunct professor in the Department of Computer Science at the Illinois Institute of Technology where I taught graduate-level courses in data communications and local area networking. In addition to teaching, I have presented more than 50 different seminars and presentations on topics related to security and networking during the past 20 years. I am a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Computer and Communications Societies, the Computer Security Institute, the Information Systems Security Association and the Technology Executives Club of Chicago. I have served as an advisory board member to the following organizations: Chicago Association of Microcomputer Professionals, the Chicago Chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the University of Illinois Department of Computer Science Alumni Organization, and several Ziff-Davis publications. I hold a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the Illinois Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign). I also hold accreditation as a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC)2.
